New guidelines strengthen ransomware prevention and resilience in Serbia

Within the scope of EU funded Cyber Balkans project and in partnership with the national CERT of Serbia (SRB CERT), eGA project team developed the comprehensive guidelines for ransomware prevention and resilience.

The brochure includes an overview of the risks associated with ransomware attacks, an analysis of commonly used attack methods, profiles of the most active ransomware groups, and statistics on ransomware incidents worldwide, within the EU, and in Serbia. It also offers detailed recommendations for preventive security measures, as well as clear procedures to follow in the event of a ransomware attack.

In addition, the recommended security measures presented in the brochure are mapped to the requirements of the new Serbian Law on Information Security, adopted in October 2025, helping organizations align their ransomware protection efforts with regulatory obligations.

The brochure was presented for the first time at the Erste Bank Annual Security and Fraud Conference, held on 20 December 2025. Representatives of eGA and the National CERT introduced the brochure, and also presented the concept and key activities of the Cyber Balkans project.

The brochure “Guidelines for Ransomware Prevention and Resilience” is available on the National CERT website here: https://cert.rs/publikacije.html
