KnowCyber grantees brief regional experts

Last week, the Know Cyber grantees from the Western Balkan region gathered in Brussels as part of the third Cyber Balkans workshop on cybersecurity legislation and governance.

As the Western Balkan Six continues to reform their cybersecurity legislation and governance structures to better align with EU practices, last week’s gathering could not have come at a better time.

The third Cyber Balkans workshop brought together representatives across the region to discuss how to further strengthen cybersecurity laws, governance and cooperation with EU partners across the region.

A special part of the week was dedicated to the six KnowCyber grantees – local organisations from the region working directly with SMEs, youth, educators and vulnerable groups to build cybersecurity awareness and resilience.

Their work forms a crucial bridge between national-level legal reforms and the everyday practices that shape a safer cyber environment.

Meet the six KnowCyber grantees:
🟢 Independent Forum for the Albanian Woman aims to strengthen cybersecurity culture among Albanian SMEs
🟢 The Centre for Sustainable Development COR Bihac raises awareness among students and teachers through workshops and campaigns in Bosnia and Herzegovina
🟢 Montenegro’s NGO Secure is improving cyber hygiene among SMEs and the public through training and educational materials
🟢 Open Data Kosovo is strengthening cybersecurity capabilities of Kosovo’s independent media outlets and civil society organisations
🟢 Dig-Ed Centre North Macedonia aims to empower students through digital storytelling, AI tools and game-based learning
🟢 ASTRA Anti-trafficking Action supports vulnerable groups by addressing online violence and trafficking risks in Serbia

Thank you to all our local partners and KnowCyber grantees for their commitment to strengthening cybersecurity governance and building a safer cyber future for the region!

The workshop was co-organised by eGA and CILC, Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration, under the EU-funded Cyber Balkans project.
