Empowering women in cybersecurity: A “Her Cyber” opportunity across the Western Balkans

The cybersecurity landscape is rapidly expanding, and with it, there is a demand for skilled professionals. Recognising the critical need to diversify this field, the British Council, with funding from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), is spearheading the “Her Cyber: Empowering Women and Girls in Cyber” initiative across the Western Balkans. This program offers a remarkable opportunity for women in Albania, Kosovo*, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia to launch their careers in this vital sector.

The initiative provides fully paid, three-month cybersecurity internships, offering invaluable hands-on experience within reputable companies and institutions. Interns will gain practical skills with essential cybersecurity tools and techniques, deepen their understanding of core cybersecurity concepts, and build crucial professional networks. This immersive experience is designed to significantly enhance career prospects in the fast-growing ICT and cybersecurity industries.

Who can apply?
The program is open to women who are fluent in English and meet one of the following criteria:

  • Final-year undergraduate students in IT or engineering.
  • Recent graduates in IT or engineering who are actively seeking employment.
  • Master’s students in IT or engineering who are looking to enter the job market.
